Clean up Australia day is on Sunday 6 March 2011.
Does anyone think we should hold a CITO event on that day?
If so where do you think it should be held?

I came across this story that appeared on the BBC recently.
Today I made contact with Steve Smallman at the Regional Office, Nelson Bay of the NPWS. He advised that he is aware of the new policy and whilst he oversees the policy it is up to us to make contact with the individual rangers that look after each particular park. He has given me the some details of contacts and I intend to put together a list of contact details for each particular park in the Hunter area. I would ask that if anyone makes contact with National Parks could they please add the details to this list for future reference. I will make contact with the Newcastle Office next week.

Groundspeak has released a YouTube video on the Basics of Hiding a Geocache.
Remember the golden rule as published on the website “Geocaching is just like real estate – location, location, location!”
Well done to Jumpedin2it on reaching 1000 finds.
A great achivement with many memorable adventures, no doubt.
See their statistics here.
Who will be the next Hunter team to reach 1000?
Recently xpunkx who is one of the hosts of the Geocaching Podcast ran a Webinar on GSAK.
There is a video presentation that he had of the Webinar that you can buy.
The cost is $12 but it may be worth it to some people if you want to work out GSAK.

Groundspeak announced today:
We will complete our first attempt at a rating system by the end of the month. In lieu of a generic (and IMO unhelpful) 1-5 star rating system we have decided to let people rate a percentage of their finds as their favorites.
This favorite count will then be displayed on the cache listing. The beta feature will initially be introduced to Premium Members but will eventually opened up to all users.
We will also be exploring other ways to identify the best caches to encourage quality. Quality of the game is one of the major themes for 2011.

This has been a major topic on the Groundspeak Forum Site. It sounds a bit like being able to Recommend Caches on the GCA website. Ironically Groundspeak has made a couple of the announcements in the past two days, coincidently opencaching.com launched. It seems that competition is the market place is very good. The website is owned by Garmin and they obviously see it as a big threat and have responded accordingly. This new site has an AWESOMENESS rating.
Interesting times ahead.
Is anyone aware of a good photo sharing site that we could use.
I know that there are sites like Flickr but these require everyone to have an account to be able to contribute to the group.
Perhaps someone is aware of a site that would allow members to upload and share files for HAVOC events etc.
