HAVOC is an anagram from Hunter Area Victims of Caching.
HAVOC has its origins in the first Newcastle Event Cache (GCH97K) held on 3 January 2004 by Mix and Bronze. From that beginning there were a number of events held in the Hunter area.
In 2009 the geocaching scene in the Hunter area was reinvigorated with the arrival of Big Matt & Shell who hosted an event in Nelson Bay called Port Stephens/Newcastle Invasion (GC1X6M0).
As a result the Hunter Valley Geocachers Meet & Greet event (GC1ZAX7) was held at Lake Macquarie. The event was very well attended and from this event the seeds for HAVOC were sown. HAVOC was loosely formed with a Facebook page.
HAVOC was born and held it’s first event, HAVOC New Year (GC21Z6C), on 3 January 2010, some six years to the day of the first event.
HAVOC is free and open to any geocachers in the Hunter Area of New South Wales. If geocaching is your passion then feel free to join the group. We look forward to having as many geocachers from the Hunter as possible.
